Editors
Tony Silva is
Professor of ESL in the Department of English at Purdue University,
where he coordinates the ESL writing program. He founded and chairs
the Symposium
on Second Language Writing, and edited On
Second Language Writing (2001), Landmark
Essays on Second Language Writing (2001),
and Second
Language Writing Research (2005). He serves on the editorial boards
of Assessing Writing, Journal of Basic Writing, and Writing
Program Administration. His research on second language writing
has appeared in TESOL Quarterly, College
Composition and Communication, and a number of other journals.
Ilona Leki is Professor
of English and Director of ESL at the University of Tennessee. Her books
include Understanding ESL Writers: A Guide for Teachers, Academic
Writing: Exploring Processes and Strategies, and Reading in
the Composition Classroom: Second Language Perspectives (with Joan
Carson). Her research interests center around the development of academic
literacy, and she is winner of the 1996 TESOL/Newbury House Distinguished
Researcher Award.
