Ilona Leki is Professor of English and Director of ESL at the University of Tennessee. Her books include Understanding ESL Writers: A Guide for Teachers, Academic Writing: Exploring Processes and Strategies, and Reading in the Composition Classroom: Second Language Perspectives (with Joan Carson). Her research interests center around the development of academic literacy, and she is winner of the 1996 TESOL/Newbury House Distinguished Researcher Award.

Rosa Manchón is Associate Professor of Applied Linguistic at the University of Murcia, Spain. Her work has appeared in leading applied linguistics and second language writing journals. She has also edited Writing in the L2 Classroom: Issues in Research and Pedagogy; Foreign Language Writing: Research Insights; and Learning, Teaching and Researching Writing in Foreign Language Contexts. Her research interests include the socio-cognitive dimension of foreign language acquisition and use, particularly foreign language writing processes, and research methods.
